St. Basil’s NSW & ACT is part of the Greek Orthodox Church in Australia.
St Basil’s Homes is a registered Australian charity established specifically for this provision of aged care. We began in 1954 under the name “Aged and Infirm Appeal” and from 1969 changed our name to “St Basil’s Homes”. We operate aged care in our residential facilities and day centres. We send carers into the homes of those clients who prefer to continue living in the community. We currently deliver care to over a thousand frail aged clients and we employ over 500 suitably qualified staff to ensure that our clients receive an excellent standard of care.
As a registered charity, all income earned by St. Basil’s stays at St Basil’s and is used to fund the provision of services and accommodation to aged Australians in our residential aged care facilities and retirement villages.
We take great pride in delivering quality lifestyle, accommodation and clinical and nursing services to clients living with us. For those clients continuing to live in their own homes, we deliver an ever-increasing range of in-home support services, including assistance with daily living activities, medications, meal preparation, cleaning, transport, lawn mowing, doctors’ appointments and much more.
Our respite and day centres are a vital daily service for many of our frail aged clients and their families living in the community. We provide social interaction for our clients and in some cases, much-needed respite for their carers, on a day-to-day basis. This includes transport on St Basil buses to and from their homes to our centres for activities, excursions, fresh hot meals and social activities.
Eligibility for admission to many of our government subsidise programs or facilities at St Basil’s Homes is determined by an assessment carried out by the aged care assessment team (ACAT) under the control of the Federal Government. This can be readily arranged through carers, doctors, social workers or local hospitals. Clients who are not yet eligible for subsidised support are always welcome to access fee-for-service in any of our programs.
If for some reason we are unable to accommodate your needs every effort will be made to help you find the services you require. It is our goal to ensure that every ageing member of our community can access services when they need them.
At St Basil’s we have a high regard for meeting the spiritual, social, emotional and physical needs of our residents and clients. We endeavour to provide everyone with independence, enjoyment of life, healthy socialisation and preservation of dignity while at the same time assisting each person in those areas of life where they need help.
We are an Australian registered charity whose sole purpose is the provision of aged care. As such, we aim to provide the best possible quality aged care services within a culturally appropriate environment that enhances the dignity, independence and quality of life of all people in our care.
To achieve this we value multilingual and multicultural knowledge, skills and understanding. We have developed expertise in providing aged care services that are culturally and linguistically appropriate.
Some of the many groups that for whom we provide care are:
- Non-English speakers,
- Financially disadvantaged,
